Tajima DG software - How to output or export a Coloreel color file

This article will describe how you export a Coloreel color file (.CSE) to use with the Coloreel ITCU and to set properties to comply with your embroidery machine setup.

Selecting the Coloreel Needle

When the Coloreel system is installed on an embroidery machine, it will feed thread into one particular needle. By default, needle #1 will be used for this purpose. However, if you want to change the needle position, there are settings in two locations.

• Design specific setting

  • On the Menu Bar, select File - Design Properties (or click Shift+E) to open the Design Properties page.
  • On the Properties Page, select the Needles tab.
  • In the "Color Needles" area at the bottom of the page, click inside the number field to see the list of needles. Select the needle number you want to use for the Coloreel ITCU.
  • Click OK.

The Design Properties dialog will close, and the selected needle number will be used to apply Coloreel swatches and patterns to the correct needle.

• Default Coloreel needle setting

A setting in the Tajima DG16 to choose a default Coloreel number to always be present at new design files is available in the User Settings.

• • On the Menu Bar, select Tools - User Settings to open the User Settings page
  • Click "Machines" in the left-hand menu to open the Machines settings.
  • In the Default Coloreel settings, assign the needle number to the Coloreel needle numeric field.
  • Click OK to save the setting and close the User Settings dialog.

• Exporting the Coloreel CSE file

To use the Coloreel ITCU together with your design file, you need to export the color properties from Tajima DG16 into a Coloreel design file to be used by the Coloreel ITCU when the embroidery design is to be embroidered by your embroidery machine.

• • Open the embroidery design where segments are colored by the Coloreel tools.
  • On the Menu Bar, select File - Export - Coloreel to Export a Coloreel Embroidery file
  • The Save As dialog opens.
  • Choose your location and confirm the File name (defaults as the DG design name)
  • Click Save

The embroidery stitch file and the Coloreel design file are both needed to produce a Coloreel-colored embroidery. The embroidery stitch file is to be imported to the embroidery machine and the Coloreel design file is to be imported to the Coloreel ITC unit.
